About Us
Friends of Foxwood Farm - Registered Charity No. 1057142
Foxwood Farm was bought in the sixties, along with The Golden Lion,
by the Parents Association of Foxwood High School in Leeds, to be
used by the school as a centre for school field trips, study groups
and
outdoor activities.
The Golden Lion was sold in 1988 and the Farm modernised with some
of the proceeds. The Farm was donated to an independent charity, the
Friends of Foxwood Farm, in 1996 when the school, by then known as
East Leeds High School, closed. The aim of the Friends remains
broadly the same as that of the school - to offer the opportunity to
young people in east Leeds, through local schools and other youth
groups, to experience the social and educational benefits of a
residential stay in an area which is in contrast to the urban
environment in which they live. To fund its work the charity hires
the Farm to outside groups throughout the year.
We Need Your Help!
The Friends of Foxwood Farm is run by a small (very!) group of
volunteers who go to the Farm at least six times a year on working
weekends to carry out repairs and necessary maintenance. Inevitable
changes in personnel mean that new recruits are needed and welcomed!
If you feel that you could offer help by being a member of the trustees and/or the
executive committee which meets six times a year in Leeds, or by
assisting on working weekends or in any other way, please get in
touch with us.
